AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE , TEXAS ,
REPEALING CHAPTER 7 , SECTION 3 , SUBSECTION
1601 (a) , PARAGRAPHS ONE AND TWO RELATING TO
FIRE ZONES; AMENDING CHAPTER 7 , SECTION 1,
IN REGARD TO THE ADOPTION OF THE UNIFORM
BUILDING CODE; AMENDING CHAPTER 11, SECTION
40 RELATING TO THE ADOPTION OF THE UNIFORM
FIRE CODE; PROVIDING FOR APPEALS OF AD-
MINISTRATIVE DECISION; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL
OF ANY PRIOR CONFLICTING ORDINANCE PROVISIONS ;
PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, PROVIDING A
PENALTY, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE , TEXAS :
Section 1. That the City Code of the City of Grapevine,
Texas is hereby amended as follows :
(a) . Section 7-3 . Fire Lane Repealed
Chapter 7 , Section 3 , Subsection 1601 (a)
Paragraphs 1 and 2 relating to fire zones
are hereby repealed.
(b) . Section 7-1. Building Code - Adopted.
There is hereby adopted for the purpose of
establishing rules and regulations for the
construction, alteration, removal, demolition,
equipment, use and occupancy, location and
maintenance of buildings and structures , that
certain building code, known as the Uniform
�, , Building Code, 1979 edition. Three (3) copies
of said code have been and are now filed in
the office of the City Secretary, and the same
�� is hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as
if set out at length herein and the provisions
thereof shall be controlling in the construction
of all buildings and other structures , subject
to all amendments thereof or superseding pro-
visions contained in this chapter.
(c) . Section 11-40. Fire Code - Adopted.
There is hereby adopted by the City, for the
purpose of prescribing regulations , governing
� conditions hazardous to health and to life, ,
that certain 1979 edition of the Uniform Fire
Code and future supplements ; and it is hereby
incorporated herein as if fully set out in
length herein and from the date on which this
section shall take effect, the provisions
thereof shall be controlling within the limits
of the City. At least three (3) copies thereof
are on file in the office of the City Secretary.
Section 2 . The enforcement of this Code shall be by the
�x,.,�, City Manager of the City of Grapevine, or through any person whom
he may designate provided that such person is employed by the
City of Grapevine , Texas .
Section 3 . This ordinance also repeals those provisions ,
and only those provisions , of all ordinances in conflict .with
the provisions hereof.
Section 4. Provisions of this ordinance shall be, and
they are hereby, declared to be severable; and should any
portion of it be declared to be invalid for any reason by
a court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect
the remaining portions thereof.
Section 5 . A person, firm or corporation violating the
terms and provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty
of a misdemeanor , and shall be fined not less than One Dollar
($1. 00) nor more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200. 00) ; and each
day each violation shall continue shall be a separate offense.
Section 6 . The fact that the enactment of this ordinance
is necessary to preserve the public business , peace , health,
safety and general welfare, creates an urgency and emergency in
the immediate preservation of the same, and requires that this
ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its
passage; and it is accordingly so ordained.
