HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1978-024 ORDINANCE NO. �8-24 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 9, CHAPTER 3 OR THE CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS SO AS TO RIX THE PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS ON CERTAIN DESIGNATED STREETS OF GRAPEVINE; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. � � C i ��, WHERERS; the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas has found and determined it necessary to fix the speed limits in the City of Grapevine; and, WHEREAS, Section 167 and 169 of Article XIX, R.C.S. 6701d, Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on Highways, provides that whenever the governing body of the City shall determine upon the basis of an engineering and traff ic investigation that any prima facie speed therein set forth is greater or less than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist at any intersection or other place or upon any part of a street or highway, with the City taking into considera- tion the width and condition of the pavement and other circum- stances on such portion of said street or highway, as well as the usual traffic thereon, said governing body may determine and declare a reasonable and safe prima facie speed limit thereat or thereon by the passage of an ordinance, which shall be effective when appropriate signs giving notice thereof are erected at such intersection or other place or part of the street or highway, now therefore , BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of � i Grapevine, Texas; that, ' ;� Section 1. The City Manager is hereby instructed to have twenty (20) mile per hour speed limit signs installed on the streets listed below. TWENTY (20) MILE PER HOUR SPEED ZONE On Tanglewood Drive from the intersection of Timberline to its existing dead end. Section 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and up- on conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not more than two hundred ($200) dollars . Section 3. Al1 ordinances and parts of ordinances in confliction herewith are hereby repealed. Section 4.
