HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1977-017 ORDINANCE NO. 77-�.7 AN ORDIN.'�NCE ADOPTING THE 1973 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE AND FUTURE SUPPLEMENTS; PROVIDING FOR ENFORCEMENT THEREOF; PROVIDING FOR APPEALS OF ADMINISTRATIVE DECISION; PROVID- ING FOR REPEAL OF ANY PRIOR CONFLICTIPdG ORDI- NANCE PROVISIONS; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. ,,�:., BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS. � Section 1. There is hereby adopted for the purpose of providing minimum standards to safeguard life or limb, health, property and public welfare by regulating and controlling the design, construction, installation, quality of materials , location, operation and maintenance of heating , ventilating, comfort cooling, refrigeration systems , incinerators and other miscellaneous heat-producing appliances, that certain mechanical code known as the Uniform Mechanical Code, 1973 Edition and future supplements copyrighted by the International Conference of Building Officials; and it is hereby incorporated herein as if fully set out in length herein and f rom the date on which this ordinance shall take effect, the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the limits of the City of Grapevine, Texas. Section 2. The enforcement of this Code shall be by the City D'Ianager of the City of Grapevine, or through any person whom he may designate provided that such person is employed by the City of Grapevine, Texas . Section 3. This ordinance also repeals those provisions , and only those provisions , of all ordinances in conflict with � '"' the provisions hereof. �,� Section 4. Provisions of this ordinance shall be and they are hereby, declared to be severable; and should any portion of it be declared to be invalid for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the remaining portions thereof. Section 5. A person, firm or corporation violating the terms and provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be fined not less than One Dollar ($1.00) nar more than Two Hundred Dallars ($200.00) ; and each day each violation shall continue shall be � separate offense. Section 6. The fact that the enactment of this ordinance is necessary to preserve the public business, peace, health, safety and general welfare, creates an urgency and emergency in the immediate preservation of the same, and requires that this ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage; and it is accordingly so ordained.
