RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF `GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, ENDORSING STATE
HOUSE BILL NUMBER 1099 RELATING TO THE
TAXATION OF LEASEHOLD INTEREST AND URGING
ITS PASSAGE BY THE LEGISLATURE
WHEREAS, on December 4, 1968, the City of Grapevine,
Texas, by and through its City Attorney, joined with the Cities
of Fort Worth, Dallas, Irving, and Euless, and the Regional
Airport Board in a Letter of Intent and Agreement between
Owners of the Dallas -Fort Worth Regional Airport and Members
of the North. ,-;,Texas Regional Airport Committee; and
WHEREAS, the respective parties to that agreement,
agreed to support any legislation proposed by the Committee,
seeking to amend the wording of the statutes relating to the
taxation of leasehold estates; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, _Texas, ,is desirous
of taxing leasehold improvements within the City limits and to
be constructed in the future in the City, to replace the Cities
tax base ;lost to exemptions to the Owners of the Regional
Airport in acquiring fee title to the land; and
WHEREAS, State Representative John F. Boyle, Jr.,
of Dallas County, hds introducted House Bill 1099 which
proposes to tax Leasehold improvements,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Grapevine, Texas, at -a regular meeting that the
City of Grapevine, Texas, endorse House Bill 1099, and urge
the State Legislature to :pursue its passage into law.
PASSED by unanimous vote of all members present,
none being absent, on this 6th day of April, 1971.
