HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1972-008 ORDINANCE NO. 72-8 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 1, CHAPTER 8 , SECTION 16 OF THE CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS PROVIDING FOR THREE WEEKS VACATION AFTER EMPLOYEE COMPLETES 15 YEARS OF SERVICE; AND PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLRUSE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, � TEXAS; E 1 • N �,,. That Title 1 , Chapter 8, Section 16 is hereby amended to read as follows: 1-8-16: VACATION: (A) Conditioned upon completion of one year of service, employees in permanent positions will be eligible for vacation benefits , either as time off with pay or as terminal pay in cases of separation f rom City employment in good standing . (B) The vacation time for employees completing one years service will be earned at the rate of one-half working day off with pay (exclusive of Sundays and official holidays) for each month of service. Vacation absence shall be limited to not more than one full week in one calendar year, shall not be cumulative and shall be taken at a time approved by the department head. (C) Vacation time for employees completing two (2) or more years of service will be earned at the rate of one working day off with pay (exclusive of Sundays and official holidays) for each month �,,, of service. Vacation absence shall be limited to not more than (2) full weeks in any one calendar year, shall not be cumulative and shall be taken at a time approved by the department head. �rr (D) Vacation time for employees completing fifteen (15) or more years of service will be earned at the rate of one and one-half working days off with pay (exclusive of Sundays and official holidays)for each month of service. Vacation absence shall be limited to not more then three (3) �ull weeks in any one calendar year, shall not be cumulative and shall be taken at a time approved by the department head. (E)� Except in extreme cases , when provided by department budget, or when the approval of the City Manager and�or the Council is obtained, it is not contemplated that vacation leaves will involve or necessitate the use of extra or "relief" employees . Department heads will arrange vacation schedules and reallocate duties on such a basis as to cause minimum interference with the normal functions and operation of their organizations . (F) No vacation benefits will be earned by temporary personnel. (G) Employees who are separating f rom City employment in good standing may be recommended by department heads to receive terminal pay for unused vacation time which was earned . for the � current year. i II . Should any part, section, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase contained in this ordinance be held to be unconstitutional, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion of the ordinance, but in all respect shall remain in full force and effect. !'""
