AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE RATES CHARGED
FOR TELEPHONE SERVICE WITHIN THE CORPORATE
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS;
AND PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE.

WHEREAS, the General Telephone Company of the Southwest
iri cooperation witl� the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company
�� has offered to furnish Extended Area Service between the
Grapevine exchange and the Fort Worth Metropolitan exchange
or, on an optional basis, the combined Fort Worth-Dallas
Metropolitan exchange; and between the Lewisville exchange
and the Dallas Metropolitan exchange; and
WHEREAS, Extended Area Service will permit customers
in Grapevine to call customers in the Fort Worth Metropolitan
Exchange or, on an optional basis , the combined Fort Worth-
Dallas Metropolitan exchange without a toll charge; and
WHEREAS, Extended Area Service will permit customers
in the Fort Worth Metropolitan exchange or, on an optional
basis, the combined Fort Worth-D allas Metropolitan exchange
to call customers in Grapevine without a toll charge; and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the advantages
of such service to tY�e residents of Grapevine; and
""�'" WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the right of the
General Telephone Company of the Southwest to earn a fair
return on the fair value of its properties devoted to the
�"'�"' rendition of both local exchange telephone service and
Extended Area Service to the customers of the Grapevine
exchange.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the General Telephone Company of th e
Southwest is hereby authorized to place into effect, upon
the establishment of Extended Area Service between Grapevine
and the Fort Worth Metropolitan exchange or, on an optional
basis, �the combined Fort Worth-Dallas Metropolitan exchange,
the following schedule of telephone rates within the
corporate limits of Grapevine and such other charges and
rates as are included in its Texas General Exchange Tariff:

Section 2: That after the establishment of Extended
Area Service, no other type of local telephone service will
be offered; and
Section 3; Al1 Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in
conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed;
Section 4; That nothing in this ordinance contained
shall be construed as, in any manner, now or hereafter,
limiting or m.odifying the right and power of the City
Council, under the law and its City Charter, to regulate
the rates charged by General Telephone Company of the
Southwest, its successors or assigns , within the City of
Grapevine, Texas.
"""�' Section 5: Should any part, section, paragraph, sentence,
clause or phrase contained in this ordinance be held to be
unconstitutional, such holding shall not affect the validity
+� of the remaining portion of the ordinance, but in all respect
shall remain in full force and effect .
