HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1993-015 �.. ,, ORDINANCE NO. g3-15 ,�a�, AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS AMENDING THE GRAPEVINE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 16 PARKS AND RECREATION RELATIVE TO AN ADDITIONAL EX-OFFICIO MEMBER OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE Whereas, the Parks and Recreation Board and City Staff have determined that a student from Grapevine High School, who resides within the city limits of Grapevine, would provide valuable input on activities that the Parks and Recreation Department could offer high school age students; and Whereas, it is recommended that a Grapevine High School student be nominated by the Principal of Grapevine High School to serve as an ex-officio member of the Parks and Recreation Board for a one year term. �" � NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: �� Section 1 . �� That all the matters stated in the preamble of this ordinance are ' true and correct and are hereby incorporated into the body of this ordinance as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That Section 16-2 of the Grapevine Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by the addition of a new paragraph between the fourth and fifth paragraphs to read as follows: "There is hereby created an ex-officio member of the board who shall be a student and be nominated by the Principal of Grapevine/Colleyville High School, and approved by the Park Board and by the City Council. The board member shall be a Grapevine resident. The appointment of this ex-officio member shall be on an annual basis and the term of office shall begin on May first of each year and end on April thirtieth of the next year." Section 3. That the terms and provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed to �.«. be severable, and that if the validity of any section, subsection, word, sentence or phrase shall be held to be invalid, it shall not affect the remaining part of this ordinance. � � Section 4. The fact that the present ordinances and regulations of the City of Grapevine, Texas are inadequate to properly safeguard the health, safety, morals, peace and general welfare of the public creates an emergency which requires that this „�, ordinance become effective from and after the date of its passage.
