HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1990-034 ORDINANCE NO. 90-34 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS AMENDING THE GRAPEVINE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 20, SECTION 20-7 RELATIVE TO STREET NAME CHANGES; PROVIDING FOR THE NAME CHANGE OF A CERTAIN STREET; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; DECLARING �,,, AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, Cheek Sparger Road begins at Grapevine' s southern city limits and ends at its intersection with Hall-Johnson Road; �""`' and WHEREAS, the City' s Thoroughfare Plan anticipates that Cheek Sparger Road will eventually be extended to the north, thereby intersecting with Ira E. Woods Avenue; and WHEREAS, the street development north of Hall-Johnson Road that aligns with Cheek Sparger Road has been dedicated as Heritage Avenue; and WHEREAS, it would be in the best interest of the City of Grapevine and for the benefit of the public that Cheek Sparger Road name be changed to Heritage Avenue. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1 . That all of the above premises are found to be true and correct and are incorporated into the body of this �-� ordinance as if copied in their entirely. Section 2 . That Chapter 20, Section 20-7 of the Grapevine "��` Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by the addition of the following street name change: "Cheek Sparger Road, from its beginning at Grapevine' s southern city limits to its end at the intersection of Hall-Johnson Road in the City of Grapevine is hereby designated and shall hereafter be known as Heritage Avenue. " Section 3. All provisions of Section 20-7 not specifically amended herein shall remain in full force and effect and shall not be amended by the adoption of this ordinance. Section 4 . If any section, article, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word in this ordinance, or application thereto any person or circumstance is held invalid or unconstitutional by a Court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance; and the City Council hereby declares it would have passed such remaining portions of the ordinance despite such invalidity, which remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect. ,.�;.,, Section 5. The fact that the present ordinances and regulations of the City of Grapevine, Texas, are inadequate to �, properly safeguard the health, safety, morals, peace, and general welfare of the public creates an emergency which requires that this ordinance become effective from and after the date of its passage, and it is accordingly so ordained.
