FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the CCPD Fund in the amount of $53,830. Additional funds in the amount of $19,028 will be available in the Grant Fund upon reimbursement from the Grant associated with the purchase. The total purchase will not exceed $72,858. BACKGROUND: This purchase is for an additional public safety emergency radio communications console for the Public Safety Communication Center. Adding this equipment will create one additional dispatch workstation within the communication center. Currently, there are four dispatch positions and one supervisor position, for a total of five workstations. This addition will add a fifth dispatch workstation for a total of six workstations. The additional workstation is needed for busy times, which will allow an additional telecommunicator to work and monitor additional radio channels, especially during special events such as the festivals, annual July 4th event, parades, and Christmas events. This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal agreement with The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791. Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Motorola Solutions. The Police Department and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
