HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1999-007 RESOLUTION NO. 99-07 ��A� A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS REQUESTING SUPPORT OF LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE TODD SMITH TO INTRODUCE PROPOSED LEGISLATION OF STATE MANDATED CODE ENFORCEMENT COMPLIANCE DEADLINES FOR VIOLATIONS AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the current time line permitted by State law allows code violators the opportunity to leave their properties in a non-conformance status for excessive lengths of time; and WHEREAS, this creates undue hardships on neighbors and allows the erosion of city tax base due to the adverse impact these violations have on property values; and WHEREAS, current time lines are mandated by the state and severely limit local governments' rights to control code violations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY � � OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: �d$ Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine does hereby request local Representative Todd Smith to introduce proposed legislation of State mandated code enforcement compliance deadlines as follows: Violation Type Current Comeliance Proposed Compliance Junk & debris 10 days 7 days Inoperative motor vehicle 45 days 48 hours public property 15 days private property Weeds 10 days 7 days Section 2. That a certified copy of this signed resolution shall be sent by the City Secretary to local State Representative Todd Smith upon its passage and approval.
