HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1997-055 �>� RESOLUTION NO. 97-55 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS TO THE CITY OF PARRAS DE LA FUENTE, COAHUILA, MEXICO, EXPRESSING APPRECIATION FOR THEIR FRIENDSHIP AND SUPPORT OF GRAPEVINE'S PALACE THEATRE RESTORATION FUND AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas, and the City of Parras De La Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico, have established a strong sister city relationship and bond of friendship befinreen the finro cities; and WHEREAS, the City of Parras De La Fuente is a historic community, having been established over 400 years ago, and recognizing that the City of Grapevine is the oldest settlement in Tarrant County, Texas; and WHEREAS, both Parras De La Fuente and the City of Grapevine are committed to historic preservation efforts; and "�'"'� WHEREAS, the leadership of the City of Parras De La Fuente has made a commitment to promoting its local arts programs and cultural presentations and has also encouraged the City of Grapevine and the Grapevine Heritage Foundation to promote artistic venues within our community through the restoration of Grapevine's historic Palace Theatre; and WHEREAS, the leadership of the City of Parras De La Fuente participated in the initiation of the Capital Campaign for the restoration of the historic Palace Theatre during the 1997 GrapeFest Texas Wine Tribute gala by making a generous $1,000 cash donation to the Palace Theatre Restoration Fund. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That Mayor and the City Council, along with the Grapevine Heritage Foundation Board of Directors and members, and the citizens of Grapevine, extend this sincere expression of appreciation to the leadership and citizens of the City of Parras De La Fuente, Coahuila, Mexico, for their generosity and friendship and support of the �.:,:,� Restoration Fund for the historic Palace Theatre in Grapevine, Texas. Section 2.
