HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1998-023 RESOLUTION NO. 98-23 � A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE TEXAS HISTORICAL COMMISSION, RECEIVING A GRANT PERTAINING TO A STUDY OF THE ECONOMIC IMPACTS OF HISTORIC PRESERVATION IN TEXAS AND MAKING GRANTS TO THE GRAPEVINE HERITAGE FOUNDATION PERTAINING TO THE STUDY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine ("City") and the Texas Historical Commission ("Commission") desire to enter into an Interlocal Agreement (the "AgreemenY'), as provided for under Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code; and WHEREAS, the City and the Commission recognize the importance of assessing the economic impact of heritage programs in the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, the Commission agrees to pay to the City the sum of thirty thousand . = dollars ($30,000.00) to assist in a joint economic impact study of heritage tourism programs; and � WHEREAS, the City agrees to contract with the Grapevine Heritage Foundation (the "Foundation") to assist in the implementation of this Agreement; and WHEREAS, the City and Commission agree that the Foundation will have the authority to subcontract with a qualified organization for the study of the economic impacts of local, regional, and statewide heritage tourism programs in the State of Texas. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That all of the above premises are found to be true and correct and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That the City Council directs the Mayor to act in all matters in connection with this grant and the City's participation in the study of Economic Impacts of Historic Preservation in Texas. Section 3. That this resolution shall become effective from and after the date of its ' ' passage.
