HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1994-025 �� RESOLUTION NO. 94-25 ,�, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE , TEXAS RECOGNIZING THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE GRAPEVINE HIGH SCHOOL DEBATE TEAM WHICH WON THE STATE INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE 5-A CHAMPIONSHIP WHEREAS, the University Interscholastic League ("U.I.L.") is the governing body of ALL activities in public schools ranging from sports to academic competition with the first U.I.L. debate tournament held in 1911; and WHEREAS, competition begins at the district level advancing to the State tournament which is held on the University of Texas at Austin campus with 63 teams competing; and WHEREAS, the Grapevine High School Debate Team, comprised of Senior Jon Hines and Junior Chris Brasure with Coach Jane Boyd and Assistant Coach Lynne Coyne, through hard work, dedication, and determination have accomplished the ultimate achievement by winning the State University Interscholastic League 5-A � v' Debate Championship. �..��, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1 . That all statements contained in the preamble to this resolution are found to be true and correct and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That the Mayor and the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas wish to extend congratulations to the Grapevine High School Debate Team and coaches for their outstanding accomplishment for winning the 1994 State University Interscholastic League 5-A Debate Championship. Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage.
