RESOLUTION N0. 94-26
� A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE , TEXAS RECOGNIZING THE
ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE GRAPEVINE HIGH SCHOOL
LITERARY CRITICISM TEAM WHICH WON THE STATE
UNIVERSITY INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE 5-A
CHAMPIONSHIP
WHEREAS, the University Interscholastic League ("U.I.L"1 is the governing body
of ALL activities in public schools ranging from sports to academic competition with
the first U.I.L. competition being held in 1911; and
WHEREAS, the Literary Criticism Team is an extracurricular activity, with
students and their coach dedicating themselves to additional study time before and
after school in order to achieve excellent test scores in knowledge of literary terms,
their application to selection, major literary figures, and periods in literature; and
WHEREAS, competition for the Grapevine High School Literary Criticism Team,
comprised of inembers Senior Jenny King, Senior Brook Munjas, and Senior Karey
"° �" Vering with Coach Susan Pittman, began at the local level advancing to district,
regional and state at the University of Texas at Austin; and

WHEREAS, the Grapevine High School Literary Criticism Team achieved the
highest level of recognition by winning the State University Interscholastic League 5-A
Literary Criticism Team Championship.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1 . That all statements contained in the preamble to this resolution are
found to be true and correct and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the Mayor and the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas
wish to extend congratulations to the Grapevine High School Literary Criticism Team
and coach for their outstanding accomplishment for winning the 1994 State
University Interscholastic League 5-A Championship.
Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
