HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1994-037 '�"' RESOLUTION NO. 94-37 � A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS COMMITTING FUNDS FOR THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE MAIN STREET SIGNALIZATION PROJECT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE APPROPRIATE DOCUMENTS; ISSUE PAYMENT FOR THE CITY'S FINANCIAL PARTICIPATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) funds, under the Federal Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991, are intended to ease traffic congestion and improve air quality through intersection and signal improvements; and WHEREAS, Main Street experiences congestion which can be relieved through signalization improvements, and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine supports efforts to relieve traffic congestion �~� �° and improve air quality, and r,�, WHEREAS, the Federal Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 requires a local match of 20% of the cost of the project funded under this program; and WHEREAS, TxDOT will provide the 20% local match for "On System" roadway projects which are constructed on State Highways and Farm to Market Roads; and WHEREAS, Main Street is considered an "Off System" project for which the State does not provide the 20% local funding match; and WHEREAS, the 20% local funding match for "Off System" projects is the responsibility of the local municipality. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1 . That the City hereby commits to fund 20% of the allowable project � costs for the Main Street Signalization Project specifically addressing the intersections of Main Street with College Street, Worth Street and Wall Street. �► Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute appropriate """�' documents with the State of Texas associated with the construction of this project. w�. Section 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to issue payment to the State of Texas representing the City's 20% local participation in the estimated cost of the signalization project based upon current engineering estimates. Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 2nd day of August , 1994.
