HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1994-053 �«�� RESOLUTION NO. g4-53 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS SUPPORTING THE CITY'S ENTRY INTO THE GREAT AMERICAN MAIN STREET AWARDS COMPETITION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the economic health and cultural vibrancy of downtown Grapevine is critical to the overall well-being of the City of Grapevine; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine has wholeheartedly supported the efforts of its citizens and business owners to revitalize downtown since the community's 1983 entry into the Texas Main Street Program; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, through its early sponsorship of the local Main Street program, financial contributions to the Streetscape improvement project and other revitalization efforts, support for the Grapevine Heritage Foundation preservation programs, and commitment to maintaining and consolidating all local government offices in the downtown area, materially participates in efforts to �.,.� revitalize downtown Grapevine; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine believes that ongoing commitment to downtown revitalization represents a necessary role of the entire community in maintaining the center city's economic strength and celebrating Grapevine's rich history and its uniqueness as an intact, late nineteenth century city in the heart of one of the nation's fastest growing metropolitan areas. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1 . That the above preamble is found to be true and correct and is incorporated into the body of this resolution as though set forth in its entirety herein. Section 2. That the City Council fully supports the City's entry into the Great American Main Street Awards competition. Section 3.
