HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1993-033 RESOLUTION N0. 93-33 � A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS COMMITTING FUNDS FOR THE RESTORATION OF THE SECTION HOUSE LOCATED AT THE GRAPEVINE HERITAGE CENTER; RECOMMENDING THAT THIS PROJECT BE CONSIDERED FOR FUNDING THROUGH THE STATEWIDE TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE DOCUMENTS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the Federal Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 requires 10% of certain funds apportioned to a state to be used for transportation enhancement activities; and WHEREAS, those funds will be used in a statewide competitive program that enhances the intermodal systems and facilities within the state for the enjoyment of '"�'' the users of those systems; and � WHEREAS, a project must have a direct relationship of function, proximity, or impact to the intermodal transportation system; and WHEREAS, the pe�suasive evidence of support for a project from the community shall include a cor�mitment to provide at least 20% of the allowable costs of the project; and WHEREAS, the candidate projects are a logical unit of work and are capable of being completed within a reasonable time; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine recognizes its heritage background and supports the rehabilitation of the original Cotton Belt Railroad. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: � Section 1 . That the City will commit 36% of the allowable project costs totaling 540,000 for the restoration of the Section House located at the Grapevine Heritage Center. �� Section 2. That the City of Grapevine recommend to the Metropolitan Planning Organization and to the Transportation Enhancement Project Evaluation Committee that this project be considered for funding through the Statewide Transportation ,�,,, Enhancement Program. Section 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute documents associated with this project. Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage.
