HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1993-012 '� p RESOLUTION N0. 93-12 � A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS URGING THE GOVERNOR AND LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS TO ADOPT LEGISLATION TO ALLOW CITIES LOCATED IN THREE COUNTIES OR MORE TO HAVE LOCAL OPTION ELECTIONS FOR THE SALE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ACCORDING TO THE CITY LIMIT BOUNDARY LINES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas has expressed considerable interest in having a local option election in the City to allow retail wine sales for off-premise consumption; and WHEREAS, the current Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code provides that a local option election can only be ordered by a County Commissioners Court and can only be called on a county-wide basis, justice precinct-wide basis or city-wide basis in a �,,, city located in the county; and WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, located in Tarrant, Denton and Dallas ��� Counties is interested in pursuing legislation for an amendment to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code that would provide the ability to call a city-wide election in a city situated in multiple counties. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS; Section 1 . That all the above statements in the preamble are found to be true and correct and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas urges the Texas Legislature and the Governor to enact specific legislation that would allow cities located in three (3) or more counties to have local option elections according to the City limit boundary lines. Section 3.
