HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1993-022 � RESOLUTION NO. g3-22 �, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE'S REQUEST TO THE TEXAS TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR LEVEL III AUTHORITY FOR STATE HIGHWAY 1 14 BETWEEN DOVE ROAD AND BUSINESS 114 LOOP AND LEVEL I AUTHORITY FOR STATE HIGHWAY 114 BETWEEN BUSINESS 114 LOOP AND THE DALLAS COUNTY LINE AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the State Highway 114 Corridor serves as the main arterial connector for Northeast Tarrant County and South Denton County to the Downtown Dallas area; and WHEREAS, existing traffic congestion through this corridor is evident on a daily basis; and WHEREAS, rapid growth currently experienced in the Northeast Tarrant County "'"""' and South Denton County area will only exacerbate the congestion problems in this corridor; and � WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas finds and concludes that it is in the best interests of public health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of Grapevine, as well as those of Northeast Tarrant County and South Denton County, that the State Highway 114 corridor be expanded to relieve the existing traffic congestion as well as provide adequate capacity for anticipated traffic from future development in this region. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1 . That all of the above premises are found to be true and correct and are incorporated into the body of this resolution as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. The City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas supports the City of Southlake's request to the Texas Transportation Commission that State Highway �,,�,� 114 between Dove Road and Business 114 Loop be approved for Level III Authorization and that State Highway 114 between Business 114 Loop and the Dallas County Line be approved for Level I Authorization. � Section 3.
