HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1990-008 RESOLUTION NO. 90-08 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS DESIGNATING A POST OAK TREE LOCATED IN HERITAGE PARK AND A PECAN TREE LOCATED IN PARR PARK AS HISTORIC TREES OF THE CITY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE � WHEREAS, the International Society of Arboriculturist has determined there is a Post Oak Tree over 200 years old located in � Heritage Park and a Pecan Tree over 200 years old located in Parr Park; and WHEREAS, these trees have been recognized as Bi-Centennial Trees, meaning they were growing at the time of the writing of the United States Constitution; and WHEREAS, the Post Oak Tree (Quercus Stellata) in Heritage Park measures 38 inches in diameter, is 60 feet tall and has a crown spread of 65 feet; and WHEREAS, the Pecan Tree (Carya Illinoensis) in Parr Park measures 37 inches in diameter, is 68 feet tall and has a crown spread of 75 feet; and WHEREAS, these trees provide aesthetic beauty and passive enjoyment for park visitors; and WHEREAS, these trees have "seen" the development of Grapevine from incorporation to the present. � NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: � Section 1 . That the City Council does hereby designate the Post Oak Tree and the Pecan Tree described herein above as historic trees of the City of Grapevine because of their age, type, size and historic association. Section 2 . That the two trees described herein above are protected under the City of Grapevine Tree Preservation Ordinance, City Code of Ordinances, Appendix D, Section 52, from removal or damage caused by any construction, development or redevelopment. Section 3 . That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its passage.
