HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 11 - Horticulture Chemicals and FertilizersMEMOTO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER MEETING DATE: OCTOBER 6, 2020 SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF ANNUAL CONTRACTS FOR RFB 497-2020 FOR HORTICULTURE CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the award of annual contracts for horticulture chemicals and fertilizers with BWI Companies, Inc., Helena Chemical Company, Simplot, Winfield Solutions and Innovative Turf Supply for the Grapevine Golf Course and Parks and Recreation Department. FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available for Grounds Maintenance costs in the General and Lake Enterprise Funds for an annual estimated amount of $150,000. BACKGROUND: The purpose of this contract is to establish fixed annual pricing for various types of horticultural chemicals and fertilizers to be purchased on an as - needed basis for the Parks and Recreation Department and the Grapevine Golf Course. Bids were taken in accordance with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.021 (a) and Section 252.041 (a).The bid advertisement was posted in the Fort Worth Star -Telegram on August 6, 2020 and August 13, 2020. The request for bids was issued through the City eBid system with 549 invitations sent out. Eight bids were received. The bid was opened electronically and publicly on August 27, 2020. The contract will be for an initial one-year period, with four, two-year renewal options available. Based on the evaluation of the bid by the Grapevine Golf staff and Purchasing, it was determined that a multiple award contract would be made to the lowest responsible and responsive bids meeting specifications. These vendors provided the lowest pricing for the majority of the items, it was determined that the bids would provide the best service and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
