HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1987-029 ORDINANCE N0. 87-29 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE BY AMENDING SECTION 2-2 RELATING TO SALARIES OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY � BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS : Section 1 . That the Grapevine City Code be, and the same is, hereby amended by amending Section 2-2, which shall hereinafter read as follows: "Pursuant to Section 3 . 04, Article 3 of the City Charter, the compensation to be received by the Mayor and Members of the City Council shall be $369 . 00 per month for the Mayor and $189. 00 per month for the Members of the City Council beginning on the lst day of October, 1982, consistent with the 1982-1983 approved budget. The Mayor and Members of the City Council shall not receive any general pay increase unless formal action is taken to amend the compensation to be received. " Section 2. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of all other ordinances of the City and shall not repeal any of the provisions of said ordinances except in those instances where ° provisions of those ordinances are in direct conflict with the provisions of this ordinance. _��.;� Section 3. If any section, article, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word in this ordinance, or application thereof to any person or circumstance, is held invalid or unconstitutional by a Court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of the ordinance, and the City Council hereby declares it would have passed such remaining of the ordinance despite such invalidity, which remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect. Section 4 . The fact that the present ordinances and regulations of the City of Grapevine, Texas, are inadequate to properly safeguard the health, safety, morals, peace and general welfare of the inhabitants of the City of Grapevine, Texas, creates an emergency for the immediate preservation of the public which requires that this ordinance become effective from and after the date of its passage and it is accordingly so ordained.
