AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE,
TEXAS , BY AMENDING CHAPTER 25 , SECTION
25-28 RELATING TO WATER RATES; PROVIDING
A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1 . That Chapter 25, Section 25-28 is hereby amended
to read as follows :
Section 25-28 - Water Rates.
There is hereby levied, and shall be collected monthly from
customers of the water system of the City, the following
charge for water service:
(a) General Water Consumption
First 2 ,000 gallons,
minimum . . . . . . . . . . . . $6 .45
Al1 over 2, 000 gallons
per 1 , 000 gallons . . . . . . . $2 . 25
Section 2 . The effective date for charging of the increased
�°x� water rates is December 1 , 1985, and all customers shall be
billed under the new rates for usage commencing said date.
�"' Section 3 . If any section, paragraph, sentence, clause,
phrase, or word of this ordinance, or application thereto any
person or circumstance, is held invalid or unconstitutional by a
court of competent jurisdiction, such holdings shall not affect
the validity of the remaining portions of the ordinance and the
City Council hereby declares it would have passed such remaining
portions of the ordinance despite such invalidity, which
remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect.
Section 4 . The fact that the present Code of Ordinances for
the City of Grapevine, Chapter 25, Section 25-28 relating to
water rates is inadequate creates an urgency and an emergency and
in the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare
requires that this ordinance shall take effect immediately from
and after its passage and the publication of the caption of said
ordinance as the law and the City Charter in such cases provides.
