GRAPEVINE , TEXAS:
Section l . That Chapter 25 , Section 25-28 is hereby amended
to read as follows:
Section 25-28 - Water Rates.
There is hereby levied, and shall be collected monthly from
customers or the water system of the City, the following
cha'rge for water service:

Temporary: For a water meter installed for construction or
other temporary purposes on a fire hydrant: One dollar and
seventy-nine cents (1 . 79) per one thousand (1 ,000) gallons
and a minimum charge of forty-two dollars and sixty cents
($42. 6Q) .
r�Iinimum Charges: In any case , the following monthly
minimum charges shall be made upon customers of the water
systern, except as provided in Section 25-42.

�ection 2. The effective date fer charging of the increased
��ater rates is September 15 , 1983 , and all customers shall be
billed under the new rat�s for usage cor.lmencing said date.
Section 3 . Severability. If any section, paragraph,
' sentence , clause , phrase, or word in this ordinance , or applica-
tion thereto any person or circumstance , is held invalid or
unconstitutional b_y a court of competent jurisdiction, such
holdings shall r.ot affect the validity o� the remaining portions -
of the ordinance and the City Council hereby declares it would
have passed such remaining portions of the ordinance despite
such invalidity, which remaining portions shall remain in full
force and effect.
Section 4 . Emer�ency. The fact that the present Code of
Ordinances for the City of Grapevine , Chapter 25 , Section 25-28
relating to water rates is inadequate creates an urgency and an
emergency and in the preservation of the public health, safety
and welfare requires that this passage and the publication of the
; caption as the law and charter in such cases provides.
