CITY OF GRAPEVINE � The City Council and the Parks and Recreation Board of the City of Grapevine, Texas met in Joint and Special session on this the 29th day of May, 1980 at 7 : 30 p .m. � in the Council Chambers , 413 Main Street with the following persons present to-wit: ;��,, William D. Tate Mayor Ted R. Ware Mayor Pro Tem William Shafer Council Member Marion Brekken Council Member constituting a quorum with the following members of the City Council absent: Charles Dunn Council Member C . L. Oliver Council Member Aulton D. Mullendore Council Member with the following members of the Parks and Kecreation Board in attendance: Mike McKinney Member Mary H. Zauber Member Donald D. Callenius Member Elmer Ball Member Dorothy Foster Member ' Jerry Brown Member � Margaret Bates Member �"� Julian Dyke Member Richard Rutledge Member ��-� constituting a quorum with the following members of the City Staff: James L. Hancock City Manager Bill Eisen Assistant City Manager Shirley Armstrong City Secretary CALL TO ORDER Mayor Tate called the meeting to order. INVOCATION The Invocation was delivered by Mayor Pro Tem Ted Ware. ORIENTATION MEETING Mayor Tate announced that the purpose of the meeting was for the City Council to conduct a joint orientation meeting with the Parks and Recreation Board. '�'""' The new Park Board Members were individually recognized and welcomed by the Mayor and Council . Mayor Tate commented that the absence of three members of the Council in no way � indicated a lack of interest and further explained that Councilman Dunn and Oliver were school administrators and involved in end of the year activities and that Councilman Mullendore was on vacation. 05/29/80 City Manager Jim Hancock then introduced members of the City Staff from the Parks and Recreation Department. Director Kevin Conklin made several comments pertaining to the vital roll that Parks and Recreation activities and facilities played in the community. He then presented a film entitled "In Search of Balance" . '"�"" Mayor Tate commented on the active Park and Recreation Department in the City of Grapevine and praised the program� s progress during the past several years . He �� added that the primary purpose of the Parks and Recreation Board was to provide input relative to the desires of the Community. He emphasized that the Board served in an advisory capacity. Appreciation was expressed to the new members of the Board for the time and service volunteered. ��aDJOURt�TMENT There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Shafer made a motion to adjourn.
