AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY CODE,
CHAPTER 7 , SECTION 140 BY ADOPTING
THE 1979 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM HOUS-
ING CODE AND ITS SUBSEQUENT AMENDMENTS;
PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PRO-
;� VIDING A PENALTY AND DECLARING AN EMER-
GENCY
�, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPE-
VINE, TEXAS :
Section 1. That the City Code of the City of Grapevine,
Texas is hereby amended as follows:
Section 7-140 Adoption
There is hereby adopted for the purpose of establishing
rules and regulations for the construction, alteration,
removal, demolition, equipment, use and occupancy, Ioca-
tion and maintenance of buildings and structures , that
certain housing code known as the Uniform Housing Code,
copyrighted by the International Conference of Building
Officials, being particularly the 1979 edition thereof,
of which not less than three (3) copies have been and
now are filed in the office of the City Secretary, and
the same is hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as
if set out at length herein and the provisions thereof
shall be controlling in the construction of all build-
ings and other structures; subject to all amendments
thereof or superseding provisions contained in this
chapter.
�, Section 2 . Provisions of this ordinance shall be, and
they are hereby, declared to be severable; and should any
portion of it be declared to be invalid for any reason by
a court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not
affect the remaining portions thereof.
Section 3, A person, firm or corporation violating the
terms and provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty
of a misdemeanor, and shall be fined not less than One Dollar
($1. 00) nor more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200 . 00) ; and each
day each violation shall continue shall be a separate offense.
Section 4. The fact that the enactment of this ordinance
is necessary to preserve the public business, peace, health,
safety and general welfare, creates an urgency and emergency
in the immediate preservation of the same, ar.d requires that
this ordinance shall take effect immediately fram and after
its passage; and it is accordingly so ordained.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPE-
VINE, TEXAS, this the 21st day of October , 1980 .
