Tate Mayor David A. Florence Mayor pro-tem Larry Oliver Councilman Doil Dalton Councilman William Shafer Councilman Charles Dunn Councilman constituting a quorum with Councilman Gideon absent, with the following City Staff inembers present: James L. Hancock City Manager Bob Hart Administrative Asst./ Acting City Secretary with City Attorney John Boyle and City Secretary Shirley Armstrong absent. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Mayor Tate. INVOCATION The invocation was delivered by Councilman Dunn. CITY INSURANCE The City Manager explained that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the problems relating to the city' s insurance coverage. He acknowledged that after the insurance bids were awarded on ,Tune 20th, in a split package, that Hartford had refused to honor their bid. He advised that it was the recom- mendation af the City Staff that the previous action relative to awarding the insurance bids be recended and that the total package be awarded to the Yancey Agency. Mr. Mike Davis, representative of State Farm advised that he felt it in the best interest of the City to have all of the insurance coverage with one agency. After a lengthy discussion, Councilman Oliver made a motion to accept the recommendation of the City Staff and recend previous action relative to awarding the bids for the City' s insurance coverage. The motion was seconded by Councilman Dalton and prevailed by the following vote: Ayes : Tate, Florence, Oliver, Dalton, Shafer, and Dunn Nays : None Absent: Councilman Gideon � Councilman Florence then made a motion to award the insurance bid to the Yancey Agency. The motion was seconded by Council- man Shafer and prevailed by the following vote: Ayes . Tate, Florence, Oliver, Dalton, Shafer, and Dunn Nays . None Absent : Councilman Gideon There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Dalton made a motion to adjourn.
