SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF OUTDOOR PROJECTION
MAPPING FOR CITY HALL AND PALACE THEATER.
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval purchase for outdoor projection mapping
from Lightware Labs for the Parks and Recreation Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Parks Department General Fund 100 for an
estimated amount of $40,000.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for outdoor projection mapping for City Hall and Palace
Theater to enhance the Christmas light show and to play the Carol of
Lights virtual video all six weeks on the Palace Theatre. The light show
will play from 9 am until 11 pm each evening and incorporate the Mayor's
video. By using two buildings for the show we hope to spread out the
spectators more to allow for greater social distancing.
This procurement will be made as a sole source purchase in accordance
with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, § 252.022.
General Exemptions (a)(7)(A).
Staff recommends approval.
