A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF
POLICE TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE
CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION FOR A
POLICE/SCHOOL/JUVENILE CRIME PREVENTION
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the young people of our community are our most
important natural resource; and

WHEREAS, there are over 7 , 164 students currently enrolled in
Grapevine/Colleyville Independent School District; and
WHEREAS, problems relating to young people can best be handled
when there exists open lines of communication between law
enforcement officers and young people; and
WHEREAS, the Criminal Justice Division, through grants, will
provide funding for programs designed to increase open lines of
communication between officers and students.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS :
Section 1 . That the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to
submit a grant application to the Criminal Justice Division for a
Police/School/Juvenile Crime Prevention Program.
Section 2 . That the City of Grapevine understands that, if
"� approved, the Criminal Justice Division will provide 100� funding
' for the program for the period of one (1) year beginning October 1 ,
�„ 1989 .
Section 3 . That the specialized officer would be assigned to
the school campuses of Grapevine/Colleyville Independent School
District to aid and assist in crime prevention matters, law
enforcement duties, instructing the Drug Abuse Resistance Education
(D.A.R.E. ) Program, and in opening the lines of communication
involving the schools, the police department and the community.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 21st day of March, 1989 .
