A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, SUPPORTING AND DECLARING
THE WEEK OF APRIL 10-16, 1988 AS BUILDING
SAFETY WEEK

WHEREAS, it has been a fundamental part of the democratic
principles of this nation to involve all interested and affected
�„a� parties from both the public and private sectors in the
formulation, adoption, and to the fullest extent possible, in the
administration of laws and ordinances designed to protect the
health, welfare, and safety of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, among the most basic laws and ordinances which have
been derived are those acts which ensure the public health and
safety in the buildings in which people live, work, and play; and
WHEREAS, to ensure such safety, both the State of Texas and
the various local governments within the State of Texas have
adopted and continually enforce building codes, which have been
designed and are maintained with the assistance of the building
industry and consumers . It is through the untiring efforts of
both the State and local building officials and their cooperative
relationships with the construction industry, that these health
and safety regulations are enforced; and
WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of Texas has set aside
the week of April 10-16, 1988 for the observance of Texas
Building Safety Week; and
'�"" WHEREAS, the Grapevine City Council wishes to recognize and
highlight the role of our local building officials in providing
safe buildings for the citizens of our community and in enforcing
building codes and restrictions at the local level.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1 . That the Grapevine City Council does hereby
support and declare the week of April 10-16 , 1988 as Building
Safety Week in the City of Grapevine.
Section 2 . That all citizens of the City of Grapevine are
encouraged to make themselves more aware of the building safety
and efforts made by those involved in the building industry to
ensure the public health and welfare.
