RESOLUTION NO. 88-37
A RESOLUTION OF THE GRAPEVINE CITY COUNCIL
SUPPORTING THE STATE HIGHWAY 360 EXTENSION
FROM STATE HIGHWAY 183 TO STATE HIGHWAY 121
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, District 2 of the State Department of Highways
�£ � and Public Transportation originally planned to construct two
lane asphalt frontage roads with roadside ditches on State
Highway 360, from State Highway 183 north to State Highway 121
at an estimated cost of $10 million; and
WHEREAS, 1992 traffic projection for State Highway 360
frontage roads are approximately 28, 000 vehicles per day
between State Highway 183 and Mid-Cities Blvd. , and
approximately 22,000 vehicles per day between Mid-Cities Blvd.
and State Highway 121; and
WHEREAS, the originally planned frontage road pavement
sections are inadequate for the anticipated level of traffic;
and
WHEREAS, the anticipated traffic requires an urban
pavement section comprised of concrete frontage roads with curb
and gutter, paved shoulders and storm drainage at an
approxiamte cost of $29 million; and
WHEREAS, an additional $930 , 000 in detour roads will be
required at proposed interchanges in order to maintain a
minimum of 45 mph on the frontage road; and
WHEREAS, this approximate $930 ,000 cost will not be
recoverable upon construction of the through lanes; and
WHEREAS, the construction of this roadway will provide
significant relief to the State Highway 121 Corridor traffic;
and
WHEREAS, the extension of State Highway 360 is a vital
element of the NE Tarrant County Freeway System.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Grapevine, Texas :
Section 1 . The City of Grapevine supports the State
Highway 360 Extension from State Highway 183 to State Highway
121 and requests the State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation to appropriate additional funds necessary to
construct this much needed project .
Section 2 . This resolution shall become effective
after its passage and adoption by the City Council .
