L. E. Holmes. i � Mayor Tate welcomed those in attendance and introduced members of � the City Council and City Staff. He then asked that each member � of the Citizens Advisory Committee stand and introduce themselves. � The Mayor then gave a brief history relating to the evolvement, � purposes, and ideals of the Citizens Advisory Committee. Members ! of the Council then expressed appreciation to the Committee � Members for their attendance and civic concern. Comments were k then heard from members of the committee. ` � � The next order of business was for the Citizens Advisory Committee � to elect a Chairman and Secretary for the 1977-78 year. Mayor � Tate declared that nominations were in order for a Chairman. ` � 3 Member Bill Boswell nominated Bob Stewart; Mr. Rex Boyd nominated ; Neal Asher; and David Harwell nominated Jesse Woods. Member Rex � Boyd made a motion that nominations for Chairman cease. The motion was seconded by Member Fred Joyce and prevailed by a majority vote. The following votes were recorded: j ; Jesse Woods Four Votes � Neal Asher Tnree Votes � Bob Stewart Thirteen Votes � � f Y f � Mayor Tate declared that Mr. Bob Stewart was elected as Chairman of the Citizens Advisory Committee for 1977-78. The Mayor then stated that nominations were in, order for Secretary of the Citizens Advisory Committee. Mr. Nea1 Asher nominated Alice Hardin. Mrs. Hardin commented that she an alternate and not a member and asked that her name be withdrawn from consideration. Carmen Martinez then nominated Jack Toyer; Mr. Rex Boyd nominated Mrs. Sharon Spencer. Member Jesse Woods made a motion that nominations cease. The motion was seconded by Fred Joyce arid Y•` prevailed by a majority vote. The following votes were cast and recorded: Sharon Spencer Nine Votes Jack Toyer Ten Votes Mayor Tate declared that Jack Toyer had been duly elected to serve as Secretary of the Citizens Advisory Committee for 1977-78. The next order of business was for the City Manager, Floy Ezell, to present a general briefing of projects presently under way by the City of Grapevine. Mr. Ezell noted that construction would soon begin on an eighteen hole golf course, a senior citizens building, and police and library facility. He added that construction was almost complete on the new utility maintenance building. He then advised the committee of various planned street and traffic improvements as well as numerous sewer and water projects and park improvements. Mayor Tate then called a brief recess for an informal reception. The City Council and Citizens Advisory Committee then reconvened to consider further business. Mayor Tate stated that a regular meeting night needed to be determined so that whenever the Committee met, it would be in sequence. It was decided that the second Tuesday of the month was agreeable with the majority of the members. It was then decided that the next meeting of the Citizens Advisory Committee would be scheduled for June 14. There was a brief discussion regarding the Concord landing at Dallas- Fort Worth Airport. Mayor Tate suggested that the Committee Members poll their respective areas to determine the feelings of Grapevine Citizens in regard to the Concord's effect on the community. Mayor ' Tate stated that the Grapevine City Council would need to take a stand on the issue in the near future and it would be most beneficial to have a report from the Committee after their next meeting. Mayor Tate then asked members of the City Staff to prepare an amendment to the resolution regarding the Citizens Advisory Committee to allow for the appointment of a vice-chairman. There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Dunn made a motion to adjourn. The motion wa� seconded by Councilman Dalton and prevailed by the following vote: Ayes: Tate, Dalton, Dunn, Florence, Oliver, & Gideon Nays: None Absent: Pirkle There being no further business to come before the Citizens Advisory Committee, Member Jesse Woods made a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Member Fred Joyce and prevailed by a majority vote.
