A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS
PROVIDING THAT BIDS WERE PROPERLY
TAKEN AND REVIEWED FOR THE
PURCHASE OF SEVEN (7) POLICE
PATROL VEHICLES; PROVIDING THAT
THE BID BE AWARDED TO A FIRM OTHER
THAN THE LOW BIDDER; AND PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE

WHEREAS, the City Administration was authorized and directed
and did in fact advertise for bids for the purchase of seven (7)
full-size sedans for use as Police patrol units in accordance
with specifications; and
WHEREAS, eight (8) bids were received and reviewed from 1)
Jack Williams Chevrolet, 2) Hudiburg Chevrolet; 3) Graff
Chevrolet, 4) Huffines Chevrolet, 5) Payton-Wright Ford; 6)
Williams Chrysler, 7) Fred Oakley Chrysler, and 8) North Loop
Dodge; and
WHEREAS, the bids have been analyzed and closely reviewed by
the City Administration; and
WHEREAS, even though the bid from Payton-Wright Ford was
lower in price by $1, 148. 00, the detailed analysis of all aspects
of the bid has caused the City Administration to recommend the
bid be awarded to Fred Oakley Chrysler, the second lowest bidder;
and
�'�� WHEREAS, the City Administration' s recommendation is based
upon their finding that Fred Oakley Chrysler submitted the lowest
responsible bid in that study and experience has revealed that
the Chrysler product, due to certain vehicle components, provides
more reliable performance for Police patrol activities .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS :
Section 1 . That, based on the above premises and the
detailed recommendations of the City Administration, the Council
finds that Fred Oakley Chrysler submitted the lowest responsible
bid and is hereby awarded the bid for the purchase of seven (7)
full-size sedans in the amount of $78, 323. 00 .
Section 2 . That this resolution shall take effect from and
after its passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 17th day of December, 1985 .
