HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1986-013 RESOLUTION NO. 86-13 A RESOLUTION �F THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS ENDORSES THE DESIGN CONFIGURATION OF STATE HIGHWAY 121 PREPARED �'° BY TFiE STATE HIGHWAY 121 PLANNING COMMITTEE; AND PROVIDING COMMENDATION TO CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED IN THE PREPARATION OF ;,���, THE DESIGN CONFIGURATION WHEREAS, State Highway 121 traverses or is adjacent to the cities of Grapevine, Texas, Flower Mound, Texas and Coppell, Texas; and WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation has indicated that it plans to upgrade current State Highway 121 to freeway status; and WHEREAS, the cities of Grapevine, Flower Mound, and Coppell, as sister cities, recognize the need to provide equal and adequate access to each respective city; and WHEREAS, in an attempt to analyze each city' s needs, and to develop a plan that would provide access agreeable to each city, Grapevine, Flower Mound and Coppell created the State Highway 121 Planning Committee consisting of the City Manager of each city, the City Engineer of each city, a representative of each City Council, and the Chairman of each city' s Planning and Zoning Commission to analyze and develop a design configuration that would accommodate each city and a design configuration upon �" „ which each city would agree; and �,.� WHEREAS, in a cooperative effort the State Highway 121 Planning Committee developed the design configuration more particularly described on Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof and which design configuration was uninamously accepted by all members of such committee; and WHEREAS, the cities of Grapevine, Flower Mound, and Coppell now desire to revise their respective master thoroughfare plans to accommodate a common intersection and access points along the proposed freeway; and WHEREAS, the cities of Grapevine, Flower Mound, and Coppell have agreed to and support the desiqn configuration more particularly described on Exhibit "A" ; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That the City of Grapevine, Texas hereby endorses and supports the design configuration described on Exhibit "A" and hereby respectfully requests that the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation adopt the design configuration described on Exhibit "A" as the official plan of the State of Texas for that portion of State Highway 121 described on Exhibit "A" . � Section 2 . That the City of Grapevine, Texas commends the State Highway �21 Planning Committee, the work of Mr. Bob Yielding, and the work of its sister cities for the cooperation, conception and preparation of the design configuration presented on Exhibit "A" . Section 3 . That this resolution shall take effect from and after its passage. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this 15th day of A,pril , 1986.
