SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO RENEW AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR PORTABLE
RESTROOM RENTAL SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the renewal of an annual contract for portable
restroom rental services with United Rentals, Inc. for the Parks and
Recreation Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available as budgeted in the General Fund 100 and Heritage
Foundation Fund.
BACKGROUND: The purpose of this contract is to establish fixed annual pricing for
portable toilet rental and maintenance used primarily by the Parks and
Recreation Department and is available to various departments on an as -
needed basis.
This annual contract will be made in accordance with an existing
Cooperative Agreement with Harris County Department of Education as
allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271 and Texas
Government Code, Chapter 791. This contract was for an initial one-year
period with three, one-year renewal options. If approved, this will be for
the second renewal available.
Bids were taken by the cooperative and a contract was awarded to United
Rentals, Inc. The Parks and Recreation Department and Purchasing
reviewed the contract for specification compliance and pricing and
determined that the contract would provide the best service and pricing for
meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
