A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS TO APPLY FOR A GRANT FROM
� � THE TEXAS CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION
�,� WHEREAS, three Dallas-Fort Worth area mid-cities law
enforcement agencies, Grapevine, Hurst, and Bedford, Texas, want
to participate together in an effort to combat crime by using
high technology to produce twofold results in productivity and
morale with a dramatic decrease in cost; and
WHEREAS , the City of Grapevine, Texas is also experiencing
the need to plan for a dramatic increase in population and take a
pro-active approach to law enforcement that can save as much as
$300,000 over five years, a projected 400o increase in computer
inquiries, and develop organizational esprit de corps; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Criminal Justice Division will provide
funding for approved mobile data terminals as a means of estab-
lishing a law enforcement data link between the three mid-cities
law enforcement agencies in an effort to enhance law enforcement
operations .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:

Section 1 . That the City of Grapevine Police Department is
�, authorized to request funding from the Texas Criminal Justice
Division for mobile data terminals.
Section 2. That the City of Grapevine understands that the
Texas Criminal Justice Division will provide 50� funding for the
project, if approved.
