HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 1985-015 CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS RESOLUTION NO. 85-15 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, IN SUPPORT OF THE CONTINUED FUND- ING OF THE TEXAS LOCAL PARKS, RECREATION, AND OPEN SPACE FUND AND IN OPPOSITION TO THE DNERSION OF ANY MONEYS FROM SAID FUND TO ANOTHER FUND; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTNE DATE UPON PASSAGE AND APPROVAL �� WHEREAS, since the Texas Local Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Fund was established by Section 24.002 of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Code, ,��, the City of Grapevine, Texas, (the "City") has received matching grants to assist in the costs of planning, acquiring, and development of parks, recreational areas and open space areas to be owned and operated by the City; and WHEREAS, the City and the community have derived great benefit from the receipt of the matching grants which have made possible the planning, acquistion and development of parks, recreational areas and open space areas within the City, which would not otherwise have been possible in the absence of such matching grants; and WHEREAS, the City, in the interest of its citizens, and for the good of the community, supports the continued funding of the Texas Local Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Fund. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS: Section 1. That all of the findings contained in the preamble are found to be true and correct and the City Council does hereby incorporate said findings into the body of this resolution as if copied in their entirety. Section 2. That by passage of this resolution the City of Grapevine, Texas, expresses its support for the continued funding of the Texas Local Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Fund and its opposition to the diversion of any �,.� moneys from said fund to another fund. Section 3. That a copy of this resolution be sent to Governor Mark White, Lieutenant Governor William P. Hobby, Speaker of the House Gib Lewis, and to each of those Representatives and Senators who represent the City, to wit: Representative Charles Evans and Senator Bob McFarland. Section 4. That this resolution be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval. PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Grapevine, Texas, this the 1�-� day of �� , 1985.
