A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, IN OPPOSITION
TO HOUSE BILL 2231 RELATING TO CONSOLI-
DATION OF TAX COLLECTIONS; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE UPON PASSAGE AND
APPROVAL

WHEREAS, Section 6. 24 of the Texas Property Tax Code pro-
vides that those political subdivisions assessing and collect-
ing ad valorem taxes may voluntarily contract with other taxing
`�"' jurisdictions for collecting services; and
WHEREAS , Section 6 . 26 of the Texas Property Tax Code pro-
vides that the voters of a county may provide by election for the
consolidation of the tax collection functions within that county;
and
WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas is
of the opinion that the aforementioned provisions of the Property
Tax Code allowing for consolidation of the tax collections on a
local option basis adequately serve the needs of the taxpayers
and the taxing districts; and
WHEREAS, a bill has been introduced into the Texas
Legislature, House Bill 2231 , which proposes significant changes
to the Texas Property Tax Code; and
WHEREAS , the City Council, in the interests of its citizens
and taxpayers and for the good of the community, opposes any
legislation which requires mandatory consolidation of tax
collections .

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1 . That all of the findings contained in the
preamble are found to be true and correct and the City Council
does hereby incorporate said findings into the body of this
resolution as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2 . That by passage of this resolution the City of
Grapevine, Texas, expresses its opposition to House Bill 2231 and
any other legislation which would require mandatory consolidation
of tax collections.
Section 3 . That a copy of this resolution be sent to all
Representatives and Senators in Tarrant County, Texas.
Section 4 . That this resolution be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GR.APEVINE, TEXAS on this the 7th day of May, 1985 .
