RESOLUTION NO. 83-36
A RESOLUTION URGING ALL CITIZENS TO PURCHASE GOODS,
WARES AND MERCHANDISE FROM MERCHANTS AND BUSI-
NESSES WITHIN THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE
�
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, in order to meet todays challenges and
to solve tomorrows problems, must present a unified effort on the part of all its
'� taxpayers, its business and industrial community and the City Government; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved a City Budget for Fiscal Year
1983-1984 that commences on October 1, 1983, based upon the recommendations
of the City Administration that is funded in part by the levying of an Ad
Valorem Tax in the amount of $.534 per hundred dollars of assessed valuation,
which represents the 13th consecutive year that the rate for Ad Valorem Taxes
has been lowered or not increased from the previous year; and
WHEREAS, a substantial portion of the City Budget is funded by the 1%
City Sales Tax on most retail sales; and
WHEREAS, increased retail sales in the City not only increases the City's
Revenue that is available for providing necessary governmental and proprietary
services to the citizens, but strengthens our overall business community and the
market value of property within the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council expresses its desire to continue to either
decrease or at least not increase the Ad Valorem Tax Rate and does hereby
encourage all citizens to purchase goods, wares and merchandise in the City of
Grapevine; and

WHEREAS, through such united effort by all concerned, the City
Government of the City of Grapevine will be in the best position to continue
�'1�wr to provide the necessary governmental and proprietary services to the citizens
within the current tax structure.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GRAPEVINE:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the preamble are found to be true
and correct and are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That all citizens are encouraged to purchase goods, wares
and merchandise from businesses located within the city limits of the City of
Grapevine.
