A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE
TO APPLY FOR AND ENTER INTO CONTRACTS WITH THE
STATE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANS-
PORTATION.
WHEREAS , urban areas across the nation are experiencing
a dramatic increase in traffic by motor vehicles which created
a marked increase in deaths by accidents ; and
WHEREAS , the City of Grapevine, Texas is also experiencing
� this nationwide trend; and
WHEREAS , the State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation provides funding for approved safety and enforce-
ment of laws attempting to curb this trend thru local contracts .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GRAPEVINE,� TEXAS :
Section l. That the City of Grapevine Police Department
and Public Works Department is authorized by request funding
from the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation.
Section 2 . That the following may enter into contracts
for funding with the State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation
A. City Manager
B. Director of Finance
C . Chief of Police
D. City Engineer

for approved safety equipment and enforcement of laws .
� Section 3. That the City of Grapevine understands that the
State Department of Highways and Public Transportation will provide
funding for these projects ; if approved.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE,
TEXAS, on this the 16th day of October , 1979 .
