WHEREAS , a serious commuter transportation problem is
developing in the northeast portion of Tarrant County, and
WHEREAS, the cost of operating private automobiles is
becoming extremely excessive, and
WHEREAS , the City of Fort Worth is the market place and
seat of County Government for this people, and
WHEREAS , it is the desire of a large number of persons in
Hurst, Euless , Bedford, Haltom City, Richland Hills , North
Richland Hills , Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake, Wautaugua,
Keller and possibly a goodly number of persons in surrounding
counties , to have public transportation suitable for their
needs , and
WHEREAS, it is the stated purpose of Lone Star Transporta-
tion Authority to include this area in its service plan author-
ized by Senate Bill 1079 , this
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF GR.APEVINE, TEXAS :
Section 1 . That this Resolution is respectfully submitted
to Lone Star Transportation Authority, asking that the service
plan provide accommodations , both short and long range, for this
quadrant of Tarrant County.
Section 2. That specific short range requests are :
a. That the extension of bus service, under
Lone Star Transportation Authority, on regular scheduled basis ,
to serve this area.
b. To establish park and ride facilities , where
needed, to accommodate northeast Tarrant County. (Note : Highways
available in this area for bus routes are Nos . 121, 157 , 183 ,
820 and 377 . Additionally there are Farm to Market Roads 1938
and 1709. )
c. To continue to study and make plans for additional
General Aviation for the area. If feasibility study is favorable,
plans and construction of a General Aviation facility, for north-
east Tarrant County, should proceed. (Note: a 20%-80% funding
ratio is believed to be available under the Airport and Airways
Trust Fund Development Act of 1970. rev, 1976. )
Section 3 . That specific long range requests are :
a. To designate and establish areas near the north
and south gates of Dallas/Fort Worth Airport as sites for rapid
rail transit stations on tracks connecting Dallas and Fort Worth.
