A RESOLUTION FINDING THE NECESSITY TO AUTH-
ORIZE THE PURCHASE OF A 1980, 1,000 GALLON PER
MINUTE, CLASS A, PUMPER FIRE TRUCK FROM
EMERGENCY ONE, INC. , IN ORDER TO PRESERVE AND
, PROTECT THE PUBLIC HEALTH, MORALS , SAFETY AND
GENERAL WELFARE OF THE CITIZENS OF GR.APEVINE,
TEXAS ,

WHEREAS, the City is in dire need of an additional 1 , 000
gallon per minute Class A pumper fire truck in order to preserve
the City' s Key Rate which is used to establish Fire Insurance
Rates by the State of Texas , and
WHEREAS , there is a necessity to purchase a 1980, 1, 000
gallon per minute, Class A pumper fire truck from Emergency One,
Inc. in order to preserve and protect the public health, morals ,
safety and general welfare of the citizens of Grapevine, Texas
and
WHEREAS , Emergency One, Inc. has a demonstrator that meets the
City' s specifications and needs that has approximately 7 , 500 miles
of use but has never been sold or used at a fire, and
WHEREAS, Emergency One, Inc. is agreeable to selling the subject
demonstrator to the City for $72 , 000. 00 which is considerably below
the cost of a new vehicle, and
WHEREAS , the City Staff has consulted with other manufacturers
� of fire trucks and concluded that none of the companies have a
j demonstrator on hand that could be delivered immediately that meets
j the City' s specifications , and

WHEREAS, the City Council concluded that the purchase of a
vehicle that has been used as a demonstrator is so unique that it
would be of no value to seek competitive bids ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS :
Section 1 . That all of the above premises are hereby found to
be true and correct and are hereby incorporated into the body of this
Resolution as if copied in full.
Section 2 . The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to
purchase a 1980, 1, 000 gallon per minute pumper fire truck as further
described in Exhibit "A" from Emergency One, Inc. for the sum of
$72, 000. 00. The City is to be furnished all new vehicle warranties
from Seller.
