A RESOLUTION URGING THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION OF TEXAS TO EXPEDITE IMPROVED
HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION OF MAJOR TR.AFFIC ARTERIES IN
THE GRAPEVINE, TEXAS AREA.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas
recognizes the need for improvements of the major traffic arteries

in the Grapevine area; and
WHEREAS, certain highway improvements are of vital importance
to the safety, welfare and economic growth of the City of Grapevine
and its citizens ; and
WHEREAS, numerous fatalities have occured on Highway 114
between Main Street and Highway 157 ; and
WHEREAS, the proximity of the City of Grapevine to the
airport, and its unique location in the metroplex area has caused
rapid growth both residentially and industrially; and
WHEREAS, several major industries hiring large numbers of
employees have located in Grapevine; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas
is of the opinion that it is in the best interest of the City of
Grapevine and the State to proceed expeditiously with improved
highway construction in the Grapevine area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
�...:,.. CITY OF GRAPEVINE, T'EXAS:
Section 1. That the State Department of Highways and
�""`` Public Transportation of Texas is hereby urged and encouraged to
proceed with improved highway construction as rapidly as possible
at the following locations :
A. Completion of Highway 121 from Bedford to Grapevine.
B. Completion of Highway 114 to four lanes from the
entrance of Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport west to Kimball
Road.
C. Widening of Loop 382 from the west edge of Grapevine
to Highway 114 at the service entrance to the airport.
D. Widening and improving of Highway 121 from Grapvine to
Lewisville.
Section 2. That the City of Grapevine acknowledges and
expresses its appreciation of the fine work done by the State
_ Department of Highways and Transportation of the State of Texas
�� in construction and maintaining a system of highways unequaled and
further pledges its support and assistance in all endeavors .

Section 3. That the City Secretary is directed to send
a certified copy of this resolution to the Commissioner for the
State Department of Highways and Public Transportation.

by the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas .
