WHEREAS, Senate Bill 411 was passed into law by
the Texas Legislature in the regular session of the
65th Legislature, which law deals with the creation of
a Fire Fighters relief and retirement fund for fire
fighters who serve without monetary compensation; and

WHEREAS, the City�s Firemen who work without
compensation are currently members of the "Firemen�s
�,,, Relief and Retirement Fund" authorized by Art. 6243E
Tex. Rev. Civ. Stat. Ann. ; and
WHEREAS, the existing retirement fund is administer-
ed by the State of Texas by the Firemen�s Pension Com-
mission; and
WHEREAS, said Pension Fund is solvent ; and
WHE�EAS, it zs the opinion of the City Council
that the Pension Fund authorized by Art. 6243E Tex. Rev,
Civ. Stat . Ann. adequately serves the needs of the fire-
fighters ; and
WHEREAS, S.B . 411 requires the governing body to
elect to exempt itself from the requiremPnt of the Act
withi.n sixty (60) days of the effectiv� date.
NO[+7, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY C��UNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
� " Sectian 1. That the City of Grapevine through its
governing body, the City Council, does hereby elect to
�.�, exempt the City f rom the requirements of Senate Bill 411,
passed during the regular session of the 65th Legislature
as authorized by section 2 of said Act.
Section 2. The City Secretary is directed to send a
copy of this resolution to the Firemen's Pension Commissioner
under Art. 6243E.
