TO: , Mr. Jim Hancock i - City Manager FROM: W.A. McLain .. Chief of Police SUBJECT: Recommendation as to Purchase of Vehicles ;. , October 27, 1977 Dear Sir: We have studied the specification sheets of both the Plymouth and the Ford police package autombiles, in an attempt to determine if the spcifications of one would be sufficient to offset the bid price on the other. Attached, you will find a comparison sheet which illustrates the differences in the specifications of both automobiles. As you can clearly see, the economic and safety features of the Plymouth are far greater than those of the Fo-rd. The difference in pYice between the two makes of automobiles is very small in comparison to the overall-. vaiue of the features built into the Plymouth., Equipped as described on ihe attached pages, we feel that the Plymouth would give us more trouble free service than the Ford. Based upon the foregoing we recommend the purchase of 1978 Plymouth police cars. - c • ' W.A.
