SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF A QUOTE TO PURCHASE
AN AIR CONDITIONER ROOF TOP UNIT FOR THE
CONVENTION CENTER
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the award of a quote to furnish and install a new air
conditioner roof top unit for the Convention Center from Coventry & Gattis C.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 115-43350-351-01 (PCMF —
Building Maintenance) for the amount not to exceed $37,900.00.
BACKGROUND:
Quotes were requested and received by the CV B and reviewed by Purchasing. Formal
bids and advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000.00. Six vendors
submitted quotations.
Informal quotes received:
Coventry & Gattis A/C $37,900.00
CBS Mechanical Services $42,468.00
CJ Services $52,190.00
AC Executives Bid Option #1 $55,926.95
Brandt $56,949.00
AC Executives Bid Option #1 $62,730.01
Of the six quotes received, Coventry & Gattis A/C submitted the lowest quote meeting
specifications.
The unit needing replacement was installed in 1987. It is the oldest unit on the roof and
parts are no longer available. It serves the eastern If of Concord (the large room) and
is not currently working.
Staff recommends approval.
