SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF A QUOTE TO PURCHASE
MOTORCYCLES FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval for the award of a quote to purchase two Harley-
Davidson police motorcycles from Longhorn Harley-Davidson/Buell for the Police
Department.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding fortis purchase is currently available in account 325-48910-209-13-0021
(Capital Equipment/Machinery Purchase Fund/Motor Vehicles) for the amount not to
exceed $46,777.82.
BACKGROUND:
Quotes were requested and received by the Fleet Department. Formal bids and
advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000.00. Three vendors
submitted quotations.
Informal quotes received:
Longhorn Hari ey-Davidson/Buell $46,777.82
American Eagle Harley-Davidson $49,303.00
Texas Harley-Davidson $49,946.00
Of the three quotes received, Longhorn Harley-David son/B cell submitted the lowest
quote meeting specifications.
The Police Department received approval to purchase then motorcycles to replace
two units in the Vehicle and Equipment Replacement List for the FY2013 Budget. The
motorcycles meet the replacement values and specifications required.
