AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GR.A.PEVINE,
TEXAS , PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF
SIGNS WITHIN THE PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY AND
ON PUBLIC PROPERTY; PROVIDING A SEVERABI-

LITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. (A) It shall be unlawful for any person
to erect any type of sign, excluding construction of City,
County, State and Federal traffic control signs , within
the public right of way.
(B) It shall be unlawful for any person to erect
any type of sign on any public utility pole situated with-
in the public right of way except signs placed on said
poles by the owners of same.
Section 2. Temporary signs of not more than four
square feet in area may be placed in the public right of

way if they fall witi�in the following categories and comply
with the stated requirements :
(A) Political signs of a temporary nature may be
placed in public right of ways only during the thirty (30)
day period immediately preceding the election for which
they are posted. Said political signs shall be removed
within ten (10) days af'ter the election.
(B) Temporary signs directing the public to new sub-
divisions and residential developments may be placed in the
public right of way f rom 12:00 noon on F'riday to 12:00 noon

on Monday.
(C) It shall be unlawful to place or leave temporary
�+' sings listed in (A) and (B) above in the public right of way
at any time other than the specifically delineated period
of time.
Section 3. (A) It shall be unlawful for any person
to erect any type of sign on property owned or leased by
the City, County, State , Federal Government or any other
�" governmental entity without the express consent of said
governmental entity.

(B) Any such sign erected in violation of 3(A) above
may be removed by the authorized officials for said
governmental entity.
Section 4. Any person who shall violate any of the
provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be subject
to a fine in any sum not exceeding Two Hundred Dollars
($200.00) and each day any such violation continues shall
constitute a separate offense .
Section 5. If any section, paragraph, sentence , clause ,
phr�se , or word in this Ordinance, or application hereof to

any person or circumstances , is held invalid by any Court
of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not effect
the validity of the remaining portions of the Ordinance;
and the City Council hereby declares it would have passed
such remaining portions of the Ordinance despite such in-
validity, which remaining section or parts shall remain in
full force and effect .
