SUBJECT: RENEW AN ANNUAL CONTRACT FOR EVIDENTIARY LABORATORY
TESTING SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the renewal of an annual contract for evidentiary
laboratory testing services from National Medical Services, Inc. for the
Police Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Crime Control District Fund 117 for an annual
estimated amount of $24,600.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is to renew a contract for evidentiary laboratory testing.
The Police Department is required, as part of the prosecutorial process, to
submit certain pieces of evidence, such as suspected narcotics, to a
certified laboratory for processing. This contract enables the Department
to submit such evidence to National Medical Services (NMS), a local lab,
on an as -needed basis.
This procurement will be made as a sole source purchase in accordance
with Local Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, § 252.022.
