SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF XTREMIO HARDWARE SUPPORT FOR EMC SAN
(STORAGE AREA NETWORK) MAINTENANCE
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval for the purchase of Xtreml0 support
for EMC SAN (Storage Area Network) maintenance from Unique Digital for
the IT Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in General Fund 100 Miscellaneous Equipment
Maintenance for an estimated amount of $23,408.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for the EMC SAN (Storage Area Network) hardware
maintenance for the storage controller and 25x800GB flash storage drives
in the Public Safety Data Center. The SAN is required to support the City
network and is a specialized, high-speed network that provides network
access to storage.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) as
allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas
Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
General Datatech, LP. The IT Department and Purchasing staff reviewed
the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and
determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing
for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval
